Jewelry, accessories and children’s clothing up for grabs
On February 5th and 6th, the “Mirumiru Maru Shie” handmade goods market opened in the village of Shimao, Himi, at the Shimao Hamanasu Manor. 25 young craftsmen and women from around Toyama prefecture gathered to put their handmade accessories, children’s clothing, and other small items up for sale. A hands-on craft-making class was also a big hit, with parents and children enjoying making things together.
The event moved from the previous venue of the Himi Seaside Botanical Garden. Goods and activities were split into four categories: “handmade items,” “beauty salon,” “workshops,” and “food.” Prices ranged from a hundred yen to just shy of 3000 yen.
The handmade items section included accessories and bags, children’s clothing and other original goods. At the beauty parlor, one could get their lashes done or have a foot massage, which drew a large number of guests. Various kinds of bread, baked snacks, and Thai and other international foods available at the “Food Corner” brought in a steady flow of people throughout the day.
“I bought a cloth purse and some other things. I’m going to give them as gifts to my friends,” said a smiling Emiko Sawada of Yanagida, Himi. Kari Sekiyoshi, also of Himi, said, “I really enjoyed all the different things for sale.”
